Title: Prey
Pairing: Dean/Sam
Rating: R
Summary: The hunter is the hunted.
Author's Notes: The sixth installment of my Werewolf 'Verse. Because this is AU I've been playing around with the whole timeline and Sam's abilities. Please review.

Most of my information came from Werewolves Powers and Werewolves

Sam learned all he could about Gordon from Gwen, but unfortunately it wasn’t much. She was not inclined to know too many things about the man who was destroying her pack, other than the fact that she wanted him dead.

So Sam focused instead on remembering his vision, memorizing Gordon’s manically grinning face. He started searching the bars of the town nearby, knowing the man couldn’t be far away when most of the pack was still alive.

The bar Sam walked into was filled with smoke from both cigars and cigarettes, the stench so powerful it made Sam feel nauseous. The combined scent of beer and sweat was just as foul, and his stronger sense of smell protested violently, urging him to walk right back out. Sam ignored it, swallowing the urge to vomit. Squinting a little to get passed the thick clouds of smoke, he spotted the lone figure at one of the back tables drinking by himself.

Sam settled at the bar counter, ordering a beer himself from the bartender as he observed Gordon. He flashed the fake ID Dean had gotten him when he was sixteen.

Gordon looked as if he was celebrating, some empty bottles in front of him and a glass half full of golden liquid was clutched in his hand. He looked up and caught Sam’s eye.

Sam tilted his head in greeting, holding up his beer. Gordon smirked at him, doing the same.

Taking the invitation for what it was, Sam slid off his stool with practiced ease and walked over.

“You having a celebration?” he asked casually, eyeing the numerous bottles.

Gordon smirked, downing the rest of his drink with a couple of big swallows. “Something like that,” he said, signaling for another one with a wave of his hand.

“What‘s the occasion?”

“A job well done, man. I’ve started a project some time ago, and finally picked up where I left off. Feels good.”

Sam plastered a smile on his face. “Great. I’ll celebrate with you then.”

Gordon raised an eyebrow at him, although he was grinning. “Yeah? What‘s your reason?”

“As good of one as any.”

As they drank, Sam kept the conversation going. He turned it to family, telling Gordon about his protective older brother. Gordon nodded like he understood.

“I had a sister once. Was real protective of her, too.”

“Once?” Sam asked, lowering his eyebrows in what Dean called his I’m empathetic, talk to me look. It always worked when they were trying to get information from people during hunts. Luckily Gordon was buzzed enough that it worked on him, too.

“She was killed,” the dark-skinned man explained, his grip on his refilled glass tightening. “By something evil.”

“Evil? You mean something… supernatural?” Sam ventured innocently.

Gordon’s eyes flashed to him. “What would you know about supernatural things, boy?”

“Plenty.” Sam leaned over towards Gordon, like he was going to tell him a secret. He could still smell blood on the other man, and he wanted to gag when he realized it must be Marissa’s. Gordon was wearing it like a badge of honor. “You probably won’t believe this, but I’m drunk enough to tell you anyway. My family? We’re hunters. We hunt evil things. Like… demons. Vampires.” He paused. “Werewolves.”

Gordon started to laugh, his hand slapping the table. “I knew it. When I saw you I knew you had the look.”

“What look?”

“The look of a killer.”

Sam grit his teeth. “I’m no killer.”

“Sure you are. All hunters are killers. You’ve got blood on your hands, boy. It never washes off. Just paints your skin layer after layer. You can never be normal. You’re tainted. Great, isn’t it? It’s like a fucking high.”

Sam fought the urge to knock that smug look right off Gordon’s face. He wanted to scream that he wasn’t a killer. That he could be normal if he wanted. It would be a stupid thing to say. Gordon, as heartless as he was, was right. Dean was right. He could never even pretend to be normal, not anymore.

Sometimes, when all was quiet and Dean was sleeping next to him, Sam would think about that man he and Dean slaughtered. Tom, he thought the news had said his name was. The man who had been “mauled by an unknown animal” the report had said.

Sam had watched Dean during the news report. His brother hadn’t said anything, but Sam could see the tiny smirk that was on his face. The look of triumph and pride.

At the time, Sam had been appalled at Dean’s reaction. Sam assured himself that he would never be like his brother; that he would keep what humanity he had left and stay himself as long as he could.

Looking at what he was doing now, Sam wanted to laugh bitterly at himself. Here he was, acting like he was high above this werewolf thing, and at the same time he was trying to lure Gordon into a trap. Revenge for killing a creature like himself. What a hypocrite.

If only Dean could see him now.

“Hey,” Gordon snapped his fingers in Sam’s face, bringing his attention back to the present. “You with me there, or am I going to have to cut you off with that beer?”

Sam smirked, tracing his fingers over the lip of the bottle. “No way, man. I’m just getting started.”

He watched Gordon watching his fingers, and his stomach rolled. If this is what he had to do to get Gordon to go with him, then maybe he should.

The werewolf in him recoiled in protest at that idea. He was Dean’s and Dean’s only. No one else was allowed to touch him.

Sam pushed that thought away. Dean was not here by choice, and Sam needed an angle to get Gordon away from other people.

“Actually, you want to get out of here?” Sam asked, sliding his hand down the bottle. “We can talk about hunting some more.”

Gordon did not even hesitate. He slapped some money on the table and stood. Sam strode from the bar first, giving an extra little sway to his hips. It was small enough so that only someone paying attention would notice. He could feel Gordon’s eyes on him as the older man followed.

In the alley next to the bar, Sam allowed Gordon to shove him against the rough brick wall. He kept his eyes open as the older man kissed him, allowing his lips to part for Gordon’s insistent tongue.

Again, the animal in Sam raged. Gordon was foul, he was disgusting. He was not Dean.

Moving slowly, Sam reached into his back pocket for the knife he had stashed there. Gordon pulled away to start opening his jeans.

Sam swung his arm, his fist making contact with Gordon’s face with the satisfying sound of flesh hitting flesh. Gordon stumbled back, catching Sam’s hand as he attempted a second hit.

Gordon yanked Sam forward and kneed him in the stomach, knocking the air out of him. As Sam gasped, Gordon’s fist connected with his nose.

Stumbling back, Sam growled and wiped at the blood trickling down to his lips. Bringing the knife up, he lunged and swung his arm.

Gordon released a cry as the knife found it’s mark, slicing the flesh of his chest and tearing his shirt. Blood seeped through the rip.

Sam snarled, the scent of Gordon’s blood exciting the werewolf within him.

Gordon wiped a hand over his wound, smearing the blood. He smirked at Sam, panting slightly. “I should have known you were one of them. I’m going to have so much fun with you.”

In response Sam attacked again. The two men scuffled, slamming against the walls and knocking over the trash cans nearby with loud crashes of tin against brick.

Gordon grabbed Sam around the neck with his arm, spinning him and slamming him against the wall. He knocked Sam’s hand against hard surface once, twice, three times until he was forced to drop the knife. With the swiftness only someone with years of experience could accomplish, he grabbed a thin knife from it’s sheath in his jeans pocket and stabbed Sam in the back of his shoulder.

Sam cried out as the blade sunk into his flesh, attempting to twist away from the pain.

Gordon released him, stepping quickly back.

Sam spun to face him and his legs gave out sending him crashing to his knees. His vision blurred as the alley spun around him like he was a toy top. “What..?” he managed, falling forward onto his hands.

Above him, Gordon laughed. “Wolfsbane. Powerful little potion, isn’t it? Poisonous, too. At least to you and your little pack.”

Sam toppled forward, grunting as his face hit the pavement and darkness consumed him.

Dean moved around the pool table, sinking in each ball he aimed for with precise precision. He glanced towards the bar where the two women he’d been chatting up were standing with their drinks. They giggled to each other as they watched him, desire in their eyes.

He knew he could easily have them both. He’d never had trouble picking up women before, but now that he was a werewolf he was even more irresistible. Vampires were the same way. Even if no one knew what they truly were, there was a constant air of sensuality around them that couldn’t be denied.

Dean sank in his last ball, winning the game. Once the man he’d challenged handed over the money with the regular curses and grumbling, Dean strode over to the bar.

The two women immediately moved in, one on either side of him.

“We were just wondering if you’d like to get out of here,” the one on his left purred. She leaned over a little, giving Dean an even better view of her cleavage. He looked down, the lace of her bra keeping his attention for a moment.

He opened his mouth to accept the offer, but instead of the response he wanted, “I can’t,” came out instead.

The two women looked at him in surprise as the wolf inside him was ecstatic. Sammy, it urged. Go to Sammy.

Dean growled at himself and walked away, out of the bar. He could feel two pairs of eyes on his back the whole way. The Impala was faithfully waiting for him in the parking lot, and as he climbed in his eyes automatically looked to the empty passenger seat. Sam’s seat.

“I’m so totally whipped,” Dean grumbled, starting the Impala’s engine. He smiled at her familiar purr, and patted her dashboard. “C’mon girl, let’s go get our Sammy.”

The closer that Dean got to Wisconsin and the forest, the more worried he became. He could feel in the pit of his stomach that something wasn’t right.

Maybe Sam already found that hunter. Swallowing the sudden bad taste in his mouth, Dean pushed harder on the gas pedal.

Sam bit his tongue to hold back his scream as Gordon dragged the knife over the skin of jaw. The flesh parted under the sharp blade, blood dripping down to stain the collar of his shirt.

Unlike Marissa, Sam was sitting on the ground tied to a tree, the rope around his wrists secured to a branch above him so that his arms were stretched over his head.

Gordon watched the sticky blood trickle down with mirth in his dark eyes. “Come on, don’t hold back on me now. Let me hear that pretty voice of yours begging for mercy.”

“Go to hell!” Sam snarled, hissing as the blade nicked his face right beside his eye.

“Now, now,” Gordon chided, “play nice or the next time you might find yourself a cyclops.”

Sam tugged uselessly on the rope binding his wrists and felt his skin bruising. He was still sluggish and weak, his body under the affects of the Wolfsbane.

It was like dead man’s blood to vampires. Sam cursed himself for his stupidity. He should have known better than to try to take Gordon by himself. The man was psychotic but he knew what he was doing.

The trees were nothing but blurs of browns and greens as Dean raced passed them in his wolf form, panting heavily around the clothes in his mouth. The further he got into the forest, the more worried he became. Sam was around somewhere, he could sense as much, but he couldn’t seem to locate his scent.

Dean stopped quickly, his paws slipping on fallen leaves. The sudden scent of fresh blood caught him off guard. He lifted his head, sniffing desperately at the air.

Deciding where it was coming from, he turned and took off in that direction. The scent was all too familiar.

When the trail ended, Dean’s heart stopped at the sight before him. Back in his human form, he scrambled to the tree the figure was slumped beneath.

“Oh god..”

Sam’s head was bowed, his bangs hanging over his eyes. His body was covered in blood and bruises, the ground around him sticky and red.

Cupping Sam’s cheeks, Dean lifted his head and was relieved so see that his throat had not been cut. Sam was limp in his arms unmoving even as Dean had to release his head to start untying the ropes binding his wrists.

“It’s okay, Sammy. We’re getting out of here.”

The rope fell away from the branch and Sam slumped forward. Dean caught him before he hit the ground, cradling the younger man with his arms underneath Sam’s.

He froze at the sound of a gun cocking, and looked over his shoulder to come face to face with the double-barreled nozzle of a sawed-off shotgun.

Alright then!!!! Very exciting chapter! And Gordon kissing on Sammy? Ew! Ew! Ew!

It's cool the way Dean could sense that Sam was in trouble.

Nice rouse on Sam's part, just a pity he didn't take full advantage and Dean needs to come to the rescue.

Liked Dean in the bar wanting a pick-up but only being able to think of Sam. Nice race to save the day, but fancy getting distracted and walking into a trap.

Looking forward to more.

Ack! Ok cruel! Evil cliff hangers!!! Dean come on! I know we were worried about Sam but duh! hello trap!

I loved Sam being all sexual and trapping Gordon that way... even if I really wasn't feeling Gordon/Sam lol!

Also loved that Dean didn't take those girls home with him. *Pats Dean* Its ok we loved you whipped :)

So umm more soon right!? Cuz I need to know what happens! and they are so kicking Gordon's ass right?!!
kiraynnkiraynn on July 10th, 2007 10:45 pm (UTC)
yeah I'm not a Gordon/Sam fan, that's why it didn't go any further than that xD more soon and Gordon will very much get what he deserves =)
angels3angels3 on July 10th, 2007 08:48 pm (UTC)
Shit, shit and triple shit.
Duh, trap much but I can't say I blame him. Hopefully Dean will rip this throat out.

Can't wait to see what happens next.

Re: Shit, shit and triple shit.
it was stupid of Dean but when it comes to Sammy who can think straight? ;) no pun intended! xD

Oh, honey. I gasped in rapture.
Yet another perfect chapter.

1. Sam taking in the hints and being all subtly seductive wins me over. He's usually portrayed as the innocent sweet-heart, probably more of a girl than he'd ever admit XD, but here we see how 'purposeful' (ahem) babyfaced Sammy can be and it totally rocks. Oh, if Dean only knew where his lips had been! Gordon wouldn't live a mili-second longer ;-)

2. Your Gordon is the creepiest thing ever. It beats the canon one. I just...I don't know, he scares the daylights outta me.

3. Deandeandean. I love that even though out of the two Winchesters he may be the one that embraces his werewolf nature with less hesitation and guilt issues but he still wants to prove that he's his old self. Mainly to himself. I like that he wants to convince himself that he's still the horndog (or maybe hornwolf hehe), but once he gets there his instincts kick in and he's back searching frantically for Sammy.

4. Evil cliffie! Me wants more!

In conclusion,
I love you.
kiraynnkiraynn on July 10th, 2007 11:38 pm (UTC)
oh good, I'm glad that you see Sam that way. I was a little worried I was making him too "girly" when it comes to his feelings over this whole situation. but I can't picture him taking it any better than he is. he's an over-analyzing angster who has a hard time letting go, and that part of him I knew I had to keep =)
thanks! I really want to do Gordon justice. his character really is quite brilliant. (cheers, Kripke!)
hornwolf.. xD I love that! this is not the end of this side of Dean, not by a long shot. he accepts his wolf side, and Sam as his mate (it being his doing and all) but I don't think he'll ever really stop being that guy who hits on beautiful, willing women. even if it doesn't go anywhere and pisses Sam off to no end. it's one of the things I love about him so no way am I letting him drop that. at least for the most part =)
this was my first time writing anything for this fandom that didn't involve a sex scene between Dean and Sam, and it was difficult xD
thank you for this, hon! your reviews brighten my day. ;)
I love you back! =D
